Blending discovery, relaxation, and awe-inspiring views, this experience offers a perfect immersion into one of Thailand’s most spectacular national parks.

Visit the lake at dawn

As Chiew Larn Lake has become increasingly popular and in high demand, this private full-day excursion departing at dawn offers a privileged discovery of the area without the crowds. It is also the best time to spot local wildlife, as well as the most beautiful light for photography.

Planning Full day

  • Pick-up from your Khao Lak hotel at around 07:30, or from Khao Sok village at around 08:30. Meet your French-speaking guide and minivan driver for a full day in a small group (max. 8 people).
  • A journey of approximately one to two hours depending on your pick-up location will bring you to the pier of Chiew Larn Lake, a jewel of Khao Sok National Park. Your guide will invite you to make a first stop along the way at Baan Nam Rad, where you will enjoy its natural pool and crystal-clear waters.
  • Then stop at the dam viewpoint, admire the magnificent scenery, and learn about the history of this man-made lake. Board for a cruise on the lake with your captain and his traditional longtail boat.
  • Take in the beautiful scenery and try to spot wildlife (which tends to be very discreet and rare during the day). Your captain will then dock at the foot of Pakai Phet, the Diamond Cave. Follow your guide’s instructions as you discover magnificent stalactites and stalagmites formed over millennia. After the visit, rejoin your boat captain and make an unmissable stop for a photo of the “3 Rocks”, which inspired the film Avatar.
  • Then head to a floating complex and enjoy a traditional Thai lunch at a floating restaurant with panoramic views over the limestone mountains and lush jungle. After lunch, relax, go kayaking, swim, or simply soak up the idyllic surroundings.
  • Return to the pier and transfer back to your Khao Sok hotel at around 17:00, or your Khao Lak hotel at around 18:00.

  • At around 06:00, meet your expert English-speaking guide and board a traditional longtail boat, as the morning mist drifts gently over the emerald green waters. Glide across the calm surface of the lake and admire the beauty of the karst cliffs.
  • During the cruise, freshly brewed coffee and a light breakfast will be served on board. Enjoy your refreshments as the rising sun bathes the landscape in golden hues. Mornings on the lake are peaceful and magical, and you will experience them in complete privacy, without the crowds.
  • At around 08:00, arrival at the starting point of a trail into the heart of the rainforest. Accompanied by your experienced local guide, set off on a short, easy jungle walk (approximately 45 minutes). This is the ideal time to observe wildlife such as gibbons and hornbills at the start of their day. Discover the unique plant species and fragile ecosystem of Thailand’s oldest rainforest. This hike leads to an inland lake nestled in the heart of the jungle.
  • Board a motorised bamboo raft and drift slowly towards Phet Pakarang, the Coral Cave. There you will discover magnificent stalactites and stalagmites formed over millennia. Your guide will share fascinating stories about the cave’s formation, which you will enjoy in complete privacy, well before the first visitor groups arrive. After the visit, take time to relax and enjoy a swim in the cool, crystal-clear waters of a secluded spot, surrounded by nature. A quiet moment to unwind and reconnect.
  • At around noon, head back to the pier, enjoying one last look at the spectacular views of the cliffs and the ancient rainforest. Back on dry land, you will visit a nearby local community to discover the traditional way of life of the region’s inhabitants. This will also be an opportunity to enjoy a delicious authentic Thai lunch prepared with local ingredients.
